This will be Adrian's first Olympic Games, having competed at two world track and field championships and the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. He was a semi-finalist in the 1500m at the 2003 world championships in Paris and a semi-finalist at the 2005 world championships in Helsinki. He was the 2002 NCAA Indoor 3000m champion.
Adrian has also competed at four world cross country championships and over 5000m in the 2006 IAAF world cup in Athens. He won the New Zealand 3000m championships in 1998 and the 1500m title in 2000.
