Andrew Nicholson represented New Zealand in short track speed skating at three Winter Olympic Games.
At the Albertville 1992 Winter Olympics, he competed in the 5000m short track speed skating relay, where the team finished 4th, and placed 28th in the individual short track event. In the Lillehammer 1994 Winter Olympics, he achieved 27th place in the 1000m short track event. His third Winter Olympics appearance was at Nagano 1998, where he placed 35th in the 1000m and 40th in the 1500m short track events.
In addition to his Olympic career, Andrew Nicholson is an accomplished endurance cyclist and a former holder of the Guinness World Record for cycling around the world. He completed his journey, which began and ended at Auckland International Airport in New Zealand, between August 12 and December 13, 2015.
Andrew’s brother, Chris Nicholson, is one of only two athletes to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympics as a cyclist and speed skater.
