Biography

EVENT: Cycling – Men’s Track: Team Sprint, Indiv Sprint, Keirin

Callum Saunders won bronze as a member of the men’s sprint team at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Saunders is also an Olympian and competed in the team sprint and keirin at Tokyo 2020.

Initially attracted to mountain biking and road cycling, Saunders moved to the track after coming through the strong cycling fraternity in his home in Marlborough. He earned a number of national medals to join the high-performance programme with his breakthrough in 2019 when he won the keirin final at the UCI World Cup in Hong Kong.

The Edmund Hillary scholar completed his Bachelor of Management Studies with Honours from Waikato University.
