Biography
Fin was born in Dunedin, but has lived in Wanaka his whole life. His mum and dad were snowboard instructors at Cardrona Alpine Resort, so Fin and his twin brother Cam learnt to ski when they were just three years old.
Fin joined the HPC Freeski programme at Cardrona, where he looked up to current teammates Luca Harrington and Gustav Legnavsky, as well as local legend Jossi Wells. Watching these skiers hit the terrain park inspired Fin to get into freestyle skiing.
In 2018, after a few years training with HPC and honing his skills, Fin was talent ID'd for the Snow Sports NZ National Development Programme.
His skiing has gone from strength to strength and in December 2022 Fin competed in his first World Cup event, finishing in an impressive 6th place and receiving an invite to the 2023 prestigious Winter X Games in Aspen. He backed it up with another 6th place finish at the Calgary Halfpipe World Cup and a 9th place finish at the Mammoth Mountain Halfpipe World Cup.
Finley will compete in freeski halfpipe at Gangwon 2024.
