Biography

James Dolphin was born in Auckland and competed out of the North Harbour Bays Athletics Club.

Coached by Marlon Gevaert, James represented the New Zealand Team at both the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

The New Zealand sprinter set personal best times in the 100m (10.41), 200m (20.56), 400m (46.72).

James was a finalist in the 200m at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games finishing eighth. 
He was a quarter-finalist in the 200m at the 2003 world championships in Paris in 2003 and also last year at the world championships in Osaka. James also competed in the 100m at the world junior championships in Jamaica in 2002. James won his first New Zealand senior title over 100m in 2002 while still at school. He has won the New Zealand 200m title for the last four years in a row and the 100m title in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
