New Zealand Olympian: 1379

Biography

Beijing 2022 will be Peter Michael’s second Winter Olympic Games. Michael will contest the 1,500m and is hoping to receive a quota place for the 10,000m.

Competing in his first Winter Olympic Games at PyeongChang 2018, Michael came tantalisingly close to a medal, placing fourth in the 5000m, and fourth in the team pursuit alongside Shane Dobbin and Reyon Kay.

Michael has multiple world cups medals to his name across a range of distances.

Michael (Palmerston North) is an inline skating World Champion who decided to add the Winter Olympic Games to his goals. He made the switch to ice after being inspired while watching countryman, and now coach, Shane Dobbin at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.
