Biography

EVENT: Cycling – Women’s Mountain Bike Cross Country

Sammie Maxwell is a rising star in New Zealand mountain biking. Hailing from Taupo and based in Wellington, Maxwell's career took off after her victory in the under-23 category at the UCI MTB World Championships in 2023, making her the first New Zealand female to claim the title. She has also secured two U23 World Cup wins and finished third overall in the series.

At Paris 2024 Maxwell raced superbly to place 8th in the women's mountain bike event.

Maxwell first competed for the New Zealand Team at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games. She has a degree in biomedical sciences and competes for the Decathlon Ford professional team.
