Biography

Shane Reed was one of the ‘nice guy’s on the world circuit and one of the quiet achievers. He was racing for longer than he might care to remember but there is no doubt he was in the best shape of his life in 2008 with an impressive win at the Oceania Championships already to his name.

Snuffie as he was affectionately known was not one for grandiose statements or TV interviews but preferred the quiet family life away from the limelight but no one doubted his determination and longevity in the sport.

A change to coach Brendan Downey inspired a revival of sorts in his career with Beijing a major motivation in that continued drive to succeed at the top level. With a CV that includes over 70 World Cup races behind him, Reed knew what it took to succeed at the top.

His best performances included 1st in the ITU Noosa 1999 and 1st in the ITU Hungry 2004.

In 2007 Shane was 4th in the IShigaki ITU BG World Cup, 8th  in the Mooloolaba ITU BG World Cup, 9th in the Edmonton ITU BG World Cup, and16th  in the Des Moines ITU BG World Cup. Rounding out the 2007 year with a ranking of 25.
