Biography

Event: Men’s Sevens

William Warbrick is an Olympic silver medallist, placing second with his teammates in the men’s rugby sevens tournament at Tokyo 2020.

In Tokyo the New Zealand men’s sevens team advanced to the final undefeated but fell short to Fiji in the Gold medal match, beaten 27-12 to take the silver.

Warbrick was born in Kawerau and was first identified at the 2018 Red Bull Ignite7 as one of the MVPs and from there was selected for the All Blacks Sevens development team in 2019. Warbrick is a tall, athletic player with strong aerial skills.

He made his debut in Cape Town 2019, winning his first World Series title.
