With 200kg of Cadbury chocolate to inflatable spa pools, massage tables, Weetbix and a 350 bottles of hand sanitizer, the Olympic Team sea-freight container is a sight to behold. The dispatch of the sea-freight container is a milestone in Olympic team preparations and its departure signals yet another marker in the constant countdown to games time. The New Zealand Olympic Team operations staff-members have spent the past month coordinating the packing, documentation and departure of the 40ft long container which contains the bulk of what athletes need for a comfortable stay at the London Olympic Games. The items packed are also designed to help Kiwi athletes feel at home in the Olympic Village where more than 10,000 athletes are housed. Tiger turf, bean bags, Kiwi-themed posters and banners are also included along with 10,000 New Zealand Olympic pins and floor fans for cooling. While athletes take most of their own equipment with them, there is spare competition gear also stowed away for voyage. Bikes, wind-trainers, a canoe, football uniforms are packed carefully for the two month trip to London. The container will be unloaded just weeks before the Olympic Games kick off on July 27 2012 and by the time athletes arrive on 16 July, the Olympic Village will have its own little piece of New Zealand.
