NZ's Olympic Sailors are ready to start racing
The first practice races have been completed off the shores of Weymouth on Englands South West Coast, and the first of the fifteen New Zealanders at this event will start racing at mid day Sunday July 29th (11:00pm Sunday night NZT) . Weve had a really good ten days at the venue here, building up. The measurement processes are being done and everybody is ticking the final boxes before they start said Jez Fanstone, Yachting New Zealands High Performance Manager. Three practice races have been completed, and everybody is ready to go Jez continued. The whole team is really looking forward to getting underway. On Sunday July 29th the Finn, Star and Womens Match Racing will sail their first races, meanwhile the 49er, Laser and Laser Radial will have their practice races. The RS:X Windsurfing and 470 Mens and Womens will start later in the week. Sailing medals will be awarded daily from August 5th to 11th. New Zealand is 11 hours ahead of London, so in New Zealand time, racing will usually take place between 11:00pm and 4:00am. Kiwis will be racing in nine of the ten Olympic sailing classes. Fans can follow track live mark rounding positions on the ISAF Olympic Sailing Website, and results on the London 2012 Sailing Website. Pictures and news will be posted on the NZL Sailing Team Facebook and NZ Olympic Team website. In New Zealand, Sky TV will commence daily live coverage on July 31st from one of the four race courses, and all medal races will be played live. There also will also be several daily summary/highlight programmes starting July 30thcontinuing until August 12th. Prime TV will also be showing Olympic footage for 23 hours per day throughout the Olympic period, so check the daily listings for when sailing will be on.
