Mt Maunganui weightlifter Hayley Whiting finished fifth in the women’s 87kg division in Birmingham.
Whiting, 20, achieved her first lift in the snatch at 93kg, but subsequently missed at 97kg and 98kg.
In the clean and jerk, she missed first up at 116kg, got it on her second attempt and then missed at 121kg.
Whiting finished with a total of 209kg. The winner was Australian Eileen Cikamatana of Australia, who totalled 255kg.
