Taylor FordWrestlingParis 2024Olympic Summer Games

Tayla Ford was eliminated from the women’s 68kg freestyle wrestling when she went down 6-0 VPO (victory by under 9 points where the losing wrestler does not score) to well-performed Frenchwoman Koumba Larroque in her first bout.

Ford, 31, won Commonwealth Games wrestling medals in 2014 and 2022, and acquitted herself well today.

The third-seeded Larroque was extremely quick and was able to uses her superior technique to build points over the two rounds. It was not all one-way traffic though, and Ford’s strength kept her in the contest.
