Anton Cooper is chasing his third successive medal at the Commonwealth Games after a gold in Glasgow and silver in Gold Coast. He has been consistently at the sharp end of the professional cross-country mountain bike rankings and currently with Trek Factory Team.
The Christchurch professional won the UCI junior world title in 2012 and the under-23 rainbow jersey in 2015 – the only New Zealand mountain biker to achieve this feat. He has been ranked as high as seventh in the world and capped off 2021 with a superb sixth placing in the Olympic race in Tokyo, only 12 seconds off a podium. He is a nine-time New Zealand champion and the current Oceania champion, a title he has won six times.
