Glenn Snyders is one of New Zealand's most gifted swimmers, and currently holds the national records in all men's breaststroke events, both short course and long course. In being selected for the New Zealand Olympic Team to Rio, Glenn becomes one of only four New Zealand swimmers to contest three Olympic Games.
He is the only Kiwi swimmer to have gone under the one-minute mark in the 100m breaststroke, clocking 59.94s at the World Championships in 2011, going on to lower this to 59.78s at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Glenn was born in South Africa, lived on the North Shore, in Auckland and is now based in Los Angeles where he trains under renowned coach Dave Salo in an international squad.
He is a Commonwealth Games medallist and won the bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke at the Pan Pacific Championship in 2014.
He is also known for some outstanding performances in relays, highlighted a stunning 59.46s split to help New Zealand to fifth place in the 4x100m medley relay final at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
