Biography

Rio 2016 was Julia's second Olympic Games, having competed in the women's lightweight double at the London Olympics in 2012 with Louise Ayling where they finished ninth.

Julia and crew mate Sophie Mackenzie went into the Rio Olympic Games as 2x world champions in the women's lightweight double having won gold at the 2014 and 2015 World Rowing Championships.

In an incredibly tight A-final race on Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, the lightweight duo of Edward and Mackenzie fought hard in Rio to finish fourth behind the Netherlands, Canada and China.

Julia is from Rotorua and started her rowing career at Rotorua Girls' High School in 2003. She is now a member of the Rotorua Rowing Club.
